Lorenz Maroldt

Lorenz Maroldt is editor-in-chief of the Berlin based newspaper „Der Tagesspiegel“. He joined „Der Tagesspiegel“ in 1994 and served in various positions until 2004 when he became the editor-in-chief. Since November 2014 he is the editor of the daily Berlin-newsletter „Checkpoint“, which is known for it’s biting humor in exploring life in and around Berlin. He was awarded for it with the prestigous „Grimme Online Award“ and the „German Local Journalist Price“ of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation. Maroldt works as moderator, participant in TV-discussions and is an author of the weekly „Die Zeit“. For the Berlin based radio „Radioeins“ he contributed more than 500 commentaries. Before joining „Der Tagesspiegel“ Maroldt worked in 1990 as a freelancer for newspapers and TV-stations. From 1991 to 1994 he worked as an editor for the newspaper „Neue Zeit“. In 1989 he completed a diploma in political science at the Freie Universität in Berlin.
