MEDIA CONVENTION Berlin
Personalities oder Formate? Wie Medien im Digitalen ihre Stimme finden

Kurzthese

This session will be held in German and will be translated into English.

Personalities or formats? Media discover their digital voice

Reach is addictive, and reach on the Internet is distributed and managed by a mere few big platforms and stars. This is why maximum reach also means maximum loss of control. Influencers decide how a brand narrative is best tailored to their audiences. Platforms define how content is processed and presented, and most of all in which environments this happens. Still, media brands have an incredible amount of capital. Their fame and acceptance help them become an institution even in the digital realm. The same applies to strong characters and formats. On the web, users still long for the familiar and the feeling of connection. However, formats, brands and even characters must adapt to the new circumstances. How can a journalist brand or a format be developed into a successful digital media service? Will bargaining reach against reduced brand visibility turn out to be profitable? When is proprietary reach important, and where can brands shine? What can media brands learn from consumer brands? How do media adapt to this challenge? What is the essence that must be transported?
